The world-famous crime classic by Agatha Christie that captivated Hollywood is coming to Sarajevo: “Murder on the Orient Express” premieres on March 10 at the National Theatre Sarajevo.

This March, Sarajevo will host one of the most celebrated crime classics of all time. Murder on the Orient Express, the legendary work of Agatha Christie, comes to life in a Hollywood adaptation by Ken Ludwig, directed by Andrej Cvetanovski. The premiere performance will take place on Tuesday, March 10 at 7:30 PM, with the first reprise scheduled for March 11, 2026.

A Timeless Mystery on Europe’s Most Famous Train

On Europe’s iconic Orient Express, time seems to stand still on a snowy night. The train is stranded. One passenger is dead, and eight others remain—each unique, each guarding untold secrets.

At the heart of the story is the brilliant detective Hercule Poirot, whose investigation within the confined carriage uncovers far more than a single crime. The play raises a timeless question: justice or law—which truly matters?

Cast

The role of Hercule Poirot will be performed by renowned Bosnian-Herzegovinian actor Mario Drmać. Monsieur Bouc will be portrayed by Faruk Hajdarević, and Samuel Ratchett by Nerman Mahmutović.

Countess Andrenyi will be played by Anastasija Dunjić, Princess Dragomiroff by Amra Kapidžić, and Hector MacQueen by Issa Osmić.

Greta Ohlsson will be portrayed by Sanela Krsmanović Bistrivoda, Helen Hubbard by Vedrana Božinović, and Colonel Arbuthnot by Dino Bajrović.

Mary Debenham will be brought to the stage by Elma Fetić, while the roles of Head Waiter and Conductor Michel are entrusted to Mak Čengić.

A Spectacular Theatrical Experience

“Agatha Christie’s work is a challenge for every director. This production will be our refuge over the next two months as we follow the clues in the conspiracy called Murder on the Orient Express—who is just, and who is guilty?” said director Andrej Cvetanovski.

The dramaturgy is signed by Džejna Hodžić, while the set and costume design are by Adisa Vatreš Selimović. The performance offers a visually spectacular experience, enhanced by original compositions from Mirza Redžepagić and masterfully crafted lighting design by Moamer Šaković.
